Sci-Fi City
« on: September 07, 2008, 12:35:26 PM »
A few months back. inspired by a ruined city on ebay that sold for like 600 bucks, I decided to build my own.  Only I didn't want to just do ruins, I also wanted to have a living city in the vein of blade runner.

I've built a whole bunch of buildings that need painting.  But just to share some WIP -

Here is phase 1 - This Corp HQ skyscraper is the first of several (I actually still need to build the others) - I'll use a diff interior layout on a 2nd table for models that go inside.

I'm going to airbrush this puppy some time this week and then post the finished product.

Any suggestions on how to do a chrome looK????

wow, as always..

are you an architect?  (my neighbor was one and he build a lot of these things, looked similar in style)

@chrome: use chrome-spray..

but beware, there are 2 types, 1 is very nice chrome but not touch-resistent, the other is less nice chrome, but good enough:

note that the models are not bare, but sprayed. the attilas look so jagged on the right shoulder because of imperfect cloning..

Another option would be carefully to use aluminum foil on the chrome parts.

Seriously, you must have a Texas buttload of storage room if you plan on building and storing these babies!  They look incredible!!!

Not enough storage space sadly-- Unfort. I enjoy building this stuff despite not having anywhere to put it - my home office is slowly being taken over!!!

I really had to debate on whether or not to give that a thumbs up.  A disco reference is always risky.

Thumbs up..thumbs down...what matters is a reaction.  It's apathy I can't stand.

WarzoneD - Another chrome window option would be to buy some window tinting film.  Cut and apply it with self-sticking ease.  You should be able to find it at Wally World or perhaps Target.  If not at those places, then an auto parts store.
