Quick Rocket Launcher question
« on: January 02, 2006, 06:24:13 AM »
RL without the AP rounds does not use the small explosion templates?  It can be fired as many times as the number of action the specialist have?  also, does it deviate if it misses?

thanks

1. Correct. Only the AP rockets use the Small Explosion Template, unless the weapon has any special rules that dictate otherwise.

2. Also correct. It takes only one Action to fire the RL, so a model can fire for every Action if they wish.

3. All the non template RL's are Hit or Miss, so a missed roll with a non-AP rocket will not deviate. Note that the SSW-6500 Stinger RL, on the Scorpion, is an Indirect Fire RL, so it will hit regardless of the roll passes or not, just subtracting the amount the roll failed by from the damage.

Yes, the Scorpion does indeed, rule.  8)

Actually.... The Scorpion's RL is not indirect fire.   This is a typo.  It came up in the FAQ team discussions waay back when and unfortunatly the servers went down before it made it to popular discussion.

If it were an Indirect fire weapon it would be the only RL that is as such as well as a never miss weapon as given that the RC of the Scorpion is so high and the damage of the weapon is as well.  Couple that with the  indirect fire  ignoring Cover and the weapon could not actually miss.

so yes.  It is not an indirect fire weapon.

Yeah, sorry.  It's still the most powerful RL out there.  it just doesn't always hit now.

Indirect fire does not ignore all cover...trenches provide cover from indirect fire.

Yeah, add to the fact that you have 3 attilas with them and the VAOD begins to look tasty.

Used two squads in an 800 point battle on level 0 Jungle (just the 15" los restriction). I agreed to it because the BH were alot of CC troops. I had 4 PV squads and a captain as well. One of the squads wiped out more than half his points (granted they were a little bunched up due to terrain). My opponent did try out clensing flame though. Which until the valkeries got blasted was a real concern.

Yep.  I have (oops) I mean had, a couple of Golems of Darkness that can attest to this!
