I totally agree with this being supposed to be fun and relaxing. As I'm used to working with the computer alot, it's nothing better than to sit down on a workbench and try painting some figs. Been concentrating on coating and preparing all my minis instead of actually painting them, but in the end it really pays off, since me and my friends can just pick from the shelf and start painting minis right away. Hopefully I'll have a 500p Bauhaus army ready before the summer ends to show you guys! And after that, there'll be a 500p Heretic army.  yay. :)

It's not stealing so long as it's your brush doing the painting!
VeezCon products:  Not as good as if they had been actually produced by a real figure company, but better than using your shoe to proxy with...sort of!

Thanks for the comments!

Feel free to adopt, borrow or steal any technique you want!  ;)

Today I'm gonna try and tackle the blending on the arms and feet.  :-X

You'll have to tell them what you did if they're going to be able to steal it. :)

He didn't even ask yet...... ;D

First up Big Red got a magic wash of 2 parts GW brown too 3 parts GW red ink over all red areas. (save unused wash)

Once dry the muscled areas were painted with 1 part Vallejo gore red to 3 parts Ral Partha red.

1st highlight RP red this time start adding subtle ripples to the muscles.

2nd highlight 3 parts RP red to 1 part VP orange fire (GW fiery orange equiv)

3rd highlight 3 parts RP red to 2 part VP orange fire

4th highlight 1 part RP red to 1 part VP orange fire

5th highlight 1 part RP red to 3 part VP orange fire

Add 3 drops of magic wash mix with an eye dropper to the original wash. Then reapply the wash to the red areas this will help create a naturally blended color to the red. Make sure this last wash does not puddle, look behind his right knee it puddled there.

I had completely forgotten I had this mini. He is the original Mortificator from the Heartbreaker miniatures days. He came in a blister with an Inquisitor that I still need to locate in my boxes.

I think I'm gonna use him as Crenshaw.

Good call using him as Crenshaw. That was exactly the first thing I thought as well. The old models are pretty nice if they are painted decently.

Here's a progress shot on the Mortificator. This guy has totally sidetracked me from the Razide. So I'll finish him then go back.

I just have to say bravo dude... I liked the old mortificator as well, and now you've made it look ten times better.. Do you even use dry-brushing on your minis? I only have the GW box set with all the paints, but you mentioned Ral Partha Red?

I only drybrush hair, fur and some metallic items. Even after that I'll usually ad some brushed highlights to those items.

Ral Parth paints are now made by Iron Wind Metals. http://ironwindmetals.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=29&osCsid=b0b76c9f74b3f91b1c05c75ac26d4db6

I am a little bummed out they don't seem to be listing the flesh tone paint anymore and I use a lot of it.  ???
