@ thalon - very nice indeed! :) I like the display base. I know they have the potential of being a pain in the butt to get right.

My painted Helios Elves are in!!  The pics tell me that I need some more colors to break up the red/brown/yellow, but I can always doctor them later.

@Glenn M

Love the deathseeker.  Man I wish I had one of those models.

The new photo of the Warrior of the Sun looks great too.  Nice work!

@ pekulior

Wow, a really great paintjob.  The aged/worn metal look came out great, and the red flesh has a lot of depth.  Very cool.

@ Coil

The repulsar Lord is well done!  He really feels dynamic rushing down the stairs into the room.  Probably to deal with the above Abyss Crawler.  Is that display made from Hirst Arts?  Someday I'd like to venture into that and make some terrain with those.  They always come out so nicely.

@ joshuaslater

Sheesh, how many elves do you have?  I have to admit, part of my inspiration to work on my Crystal Lotus elves came from seeing you get yours painted up.  And you had a huge force of them.  And now I see you have Helios as well.  Wow.  That's just sort of a dream of mine to have every faction.  It's great to see them in all their fiery glory.

Veez will have his work cut out for him with all the entries. Ha!  ;D

Kings to you Glen, on bringing that Deathseeker such a great paintjob.  Love the edges of the cloth with the yellow.   ;D

Yeah, they didn't come out as nicely as I wanted, but my brush is a little on the worn side.  Someday I'll go back and rework it when I have a bit more freehand skill.

Joshua - I like the elves, very toasty.  I find it interesting when people block color the armor as well as the clothes.  It gives them a nice pop on the table.  Mine admittedly often wash into the table as I use drab a dull colors for the most part.

Coil - That is a great little diorama, you could easily append it in the future with whatever figures you want which is cool.  My only issue with the piece is can the figure be separated for game purposes?

I was actually thinking of redoin' my house Helios that way.  You are correct, it does need something to break it up, colot scheme wise.  I thougt of using copper armour, red leather, and gold wash on the armour.  I think yours are perfectly good and would field them with pride.

I'm looking at them and wondering what else I can use instead of the brown for the axe hafts and top of the boots.  I'm wondering if good ol' black would be a good contrast, or if I should go with another, more muted yellow.  Thoughts?

I'd say a black.  Another yellow would not work well in my mind.

This is why I have fallen for Brand X painting; Thomas will not only paint what I pay him and his crew to paint, but he will tell me paint recipes, basing secrets, and helpful hints on what I paint myself.

I think I'll hit them with the black, and post to get more feedback.  My only worry is them coming out looin' like hornets!!

Overall I'm happy with where they went.  I started them ages ago when I was still using white primer for everything.  The red metallic is a discontinued Reaper pro paint, and I stocked up on enough to finish the army with.  Brown ink over it brings out a nice look, even though I think I would change things over black primer all together.

The chainmail is another discontinued Reaper pro paint--Copper, which I slathered on and again just inked with the brown to get the crevices filled.  I call this my discovery of ink phase.

Overall a quick and dirty tabletop scheme, but I'm going to finish what I started with the overall scheme.  Even painting two armies this year, I doubt my pile of shame will dwindle much without help from Brand X.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and most especially to Veez, whose tireless work keeping our community active and alive is inspiring.  Kings to you, Veez.
