Capitol Terrasaurs???
« on: March 04, 2008, 07:03:57 PM »
Just picked these up - and I think they're cool Martian Cav for Capitol.

Archer - would you do the honors?

Cheers!

good christ...  I wouldn't know where to begin.

Hmmm.... off top of my head, this could go one of two ways.

Method 1: Riders able to jump off the saurs.

The dropable riders.... HI Stats but AR17
Dinos are as tough as the Dragonriders of Mishima but one more wound and Sp 4.
Riders have M50's, the controllers have M13's and the prod (dunno what to use for them statwise.  Need to ponder)

The tank-back one...  Mounted Autocannon and add two armor.  The other one... I have no clue.

I guess it falls to me to ask the question I find most obvious....Why? What purpose do they serve and how do they advance the game other than just having more nifty-neato stuff? Hell I have some quad cycles that would make more sense as Desert Scorpion scout vehicles and some 6 wheel ATV scout cars that would make great Venusian patrol vehicles - I just don't see the need to throw them into the mix without a good scenario driven reason.

@Archer - I don't think they'd dismount.

@TK - Why?  For fun.  After all that's why I play.  i'm not a big tournament guy.  I guess for me it's really ALL about the flavor.  Less about the stats.

All the games we play are scenario based, so it's fun for me to introduce new units and try out new ideas.

The guys I was playing with most recently - we had an ongoing campaign and each new scenario we'd do something cool and different.

Dane -

Not trying to be an ass and I hope I didn't offend. I also play for fun except at Origins and then I run games for others to have fun. I just haven't exhausted all the flavor in the book. There is a large amount of cool material that is waiting to get proxied/converted without going off the reservation as it were. Differenet strokes for different folks, I guess. I am actually going to put together the quad runners as Bauhaus Scout Bikes for escorts on an Escort/Assassinate scenario for Origins. I plan on using the stats for the Bauhaus Mounted Hussars for the quad bikes and riders.

No worries, Hal.  I know you always have good intentions!  :)  I guess it's the Star Wars lover in me, that I like new and interesting troop types.  But as you said, diff strokes...

It's also fun to see what Archer dreams up.  He's just so dang good at figuring this stuff out.

And as always I love to contrib. stuff on here that fuels the imagination of everyone in the hobby.

Warm regards as always--

P.S.  Those Quad bikes sound cool - send pics will you once they're done.

If you were to replace the figs with Crescentians and maybe do up the lizards a little, I think they would make great Crecentian riders (the fluff, especially the 1st ed Dark Eded sourcebook) talked a lot about how they were nomads that rode around on these great beasts.  There is one over at my FLGS that I am debating picking up for that purpose (of course then I'd have to collect Crescentians which I don't want to do...yet).
VeezCon products:  Not as good as if they had been actually produced by a real figure company, but better than using your shoe to proxy with...sort of!

I just increased the AR rating to reflect the extra armor (maybe not enough???) - and I gave the totally enclosed one the impenetrability SA???

Am open to suggestions
