More questions...

If you have 2 Actions Can you charge kill the foe, then charge again?

If the Harbinger of Darkness dies do the Darkwings go away too?

Does the Harbinger and the Darkwings all act as a warband or 3 individuals?

I'm sure there will be more later.

Michael

1. Yes you can. If you have 2 actions, you can Charge for the first action, then take your free Charge attack. For the second action, if there is another model in Charge range, you can do the exact same thing.

2. The rules are vague on this one. But having played the Harbinger many times, if he dies I remove the Darkwings, because their rules state that even though they act independently of him, they are activated at the same time the Harbinger is.

Hope this helps.

They're not summoned, and you do pay the points for'em, so I'd say keep'em on the board.  Just how I would play it.

As per your seccond question. Do the rules state if the Hargringer is killed the Darkwings are removed from play? If not they remain in play. It's like the Swamp Goblins webmaster and spiders, they activate at the same time but dont have to be in command distance and if the webmaster is killed the spiders remain in play. Hope that helps. ;D

Thanks for the answers, that does help.

We played it that when the Harbringer Dies the Darkwings just wander off with out leadership.  It's good to know that were not the only ones confused.

Is there any real reason not to charge?  Every time you can?

Yes. Several.

1. Opponent is Braced with a pole-arm. (Can you say: skewer?)

2. Who is nearby? Are they on Wait? Is it someone that I don't want to get counter-charged by?

3. Is this someone I want to get into HTH with?

There are several reason why, in the blood-soaked chess game that is Chronopia, that Charging is not always the best option. You have to learn to think several moves ahead, and evaluate exactly what could happen, and the implications if things don't go as planned.

Just one of the reasons that Chronopia truly shines. But then again I tend to be biased.

Tactically speaking, getting over-extended and cut-off is a good way to lose it all. Shaka, a tribal king of the Zulus proved that to the Brits several times. The Zulus would deploy in what they called the Horn Formation. When the Brits advanced past the tips to engage the center, the Zulus would attack from the flanks and surround them. It rarely ended well for the Brits if it got to that stage.
