Wedge's Miniatures
« on: July 18, 2007, 08:03:26 AM »
Everyone,

I was thinking how I should begin this message and I couldn’t think of any way to say it other than to be direct and to the point.

I must first apologize for going against the very forum rules that I have enforced in the past.  We only allow trades and not sales, but it this case I hope you will forgive me.

Some of you may or may not know that I have moved in with my wife’s parents to help them save their house.  They’re 24 years into a 30 year mortgage and fell on hard times when both of them lost their jobs.  Instead of asking for help, they slowly dwindled away their savings to pay the mortgage and didn’t tell their family their predicament until it was almost too late.  I vacated my base housing to move my family in with them to help make the payments.  Things were tight as they are, but now my wife’s grandmother has a stack of hospital bills that she can no longer afford.  With her parents squeezing all their pennies to help the grandmother, I in turn am taking on the lions share of the house bills etc.  The belt is tightening even more.  Having said all that…

I have to liquidate all of my games.  My local group has basically disbanded due to PCS’s (permanent change of station) and others falling out of gaming altogether.  I still wish to continue to play PBEM games with you guys but I realize the actual miniatures are a small pot of money that I could use right now.  Having said all that…

I was going to just post everything on eBay, but I thought I’d rather see my miniatures go to my friends and still be put to good use.

A lot of you have seen my painting skills and know the quality of my work.  When I get home tonight I will post a complete list of all my miniatures.

Well, if we buy'em up, you'll still get to game with them when you come out this way.  Excelsior is no longer in business, so I don't think Thom, or anyone who has supported Excelsior in the past will hold it against you for posting this.  If anything, I'm glad your posting here first, before ebay.

I don't have as much as I used to but I am willing to donate to the cause on one condition. My contribution must go toward your not selling your Semai Army. I know the work you have put into it and would rather pay you to keep it or buy it on the condition that you buy it back when you can. I went thru a rough period and a friend bought my guns. He could have done anything with them but he kept them and then returned them when I got back on my feet. If possible I would like to pay his generosity forward my friend. To that end I am willing to pledge what I can toward the price you set for your Semai Army. Anyone want to join me in buying Wedge's Semai Army under the terms outlined above? Wedge please give us a price on the Semai Army and where to send payment. Anyone who is interested please send me a PM outlining how you can help.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your interest and your sentiments.  It really means a lot to me.  Your idea is a good one Top and I appreciate the offer--I just don't know when I would be able to buy everything back, if at all.

Like I said, I would rather sell them to friends than sell them to someone on eBay that I don't know (or take the risk that they'll back out).  I will post the lists later tonight.

For Chronopia I have:

Sons of Kronos approx. 2000pts (complete army--30-40% painted)
Stygian approx. 1200pts (about 20-30% painted)
Semai/Horde approx. 2500pts (complete army--80-90% painted)

Here is my sons of Kronos Army.  I will be posting the larger Semai/Horde in a bit.

Sons of Kronos:

Painted:

Monarch
Hunter
Warhounds (5)
Hearthguard (4)
Hearthguard STB
Hearthguard Chieftan
Berserkers (5)

Base Metal, Primed, or Partially Painted:

Tribal Warriors (4)
Tribal Warrior STB
Tribal Warrior Swordmaster
Tribal Warrior Chieftan
Hearthguard Hornblower
Slingers (8 )
Unliving (8 )
Blade Maidens (6)
Blade Maiden Chieftan
6 Viridian Lords (old style)
2 Viridian Lords (new style)
Aonbarr Horse Warrior
1 Viridian Lord Champion
1 Wyrd
1 Scythed Chariot

All of these miniatures are contained in a bi-level, grey Chessex miniature case which I will throw in if the army is bought as a whole.

I was trying to think of a reasonable price scale.  This is what I thought of…

$1 per standard miniature
$4 per large or specialty miniature

+$4 for painted.

For the painted that would be…
17 x 5
1 x 8
$93

For the unpainted that would be…
41x1
2x4
$49

That would be a total of $142.

Throw in the case for $8 and we can round it off to an even $150

Send me a PM if you're interested, or post here if you like.

Semai/Horde Army:

Painted:

Heretic Legionnaires (8 )
Dissidents (6)
Callistonian Intruders (3)
Soul Reaver (1)
Callistonian Sundancer
Metropolitan Prophet
Necromutants (10)
Necromutant Tormentor FT Specialists (2)
Pretorian Stalkers (2)
Unholy Carronade and Crew
Razides (2)
Pretorian Behemoth

Unpainted/Primed:

Dissidents (2)
Dark Huntsmen (5)
Soul Reavers (2)
Heretic Corruptors (2)
Callistonian Sundancer
Undead Legionnaires (old style) (16)
Necromutant Leaders (2)
Curators (2)
Golems of Darkness (2)
Centurions (2)
Pretorian Enforcer
Gomorrian Emasculator
Callistonian Conquerer
Eaonian Justifier
Nepharite of Semai
Krayst
Valpurgis
Drop Pod (Closed)

All of these miniatures are combined in a bi-level, black gun case which I will throw in if you buy the whole army.

Following the same fixed prices listed above for the SoK army the price for this army would come to:

Painted:
35x5
5x8
1x20 (special price for Pretorian Behemoth)
$235

Unpainted:
40x1
4x4
$56

That comes to $291 total.  Throw in the case for $9 more and that comes to an even $300.

This of course does not include the cost for shipping.  I'll weigh it all and make sure that you don't pay a penny more than necessary.

Send me a PM if you're interested, or post here if you like.

I will have to wait on the Stygian army.  It is over at a friend's house.  I will get that army together and post it soon.  If anyone is REALLY interested in it I will get to work on it asap.  If not, it will be a few days because he lives about an hour away.

Then I guess my syndicate will have to deal for them and have you keep them for us brother.  ;)

BTW - How much time you gonna have for painting in the near to mid future? I got more than I care to think about and if you had the time I would love for you to finish out my Cybertronic army with the same paint scheme as the figs I bought from you back in the day. Maybe we can negotiate a price and work out a deal for you to do a few units every month or so.

Hm.   Pimpin' out Wedge's painting skills??  I know of some people, myself included that would pay for painted units/armies, and not sweat you on instant results.  Would you be down with this?  We pay for shipping, painting, etc. and work out a price per fig.  I think that's standard operating procedure.  Of course, all this depends on your time and schedule.  It could work out for some more cash for you, and painted figs for us.  Again, let us know how we can help.

Cheers,

Joshua Slater
