Camoflauge...
« on: November 10, 2005, 03:32:59 AM »
Am I correct in assuming that a model with this SA gets the SAs level bonus or the cover bonus applied to an attackers RC? I know the book says that the effect is not cumilative with terrain effects but I just want to be sure that is worded correctly. If it is, does'nt camoflauge become a redundant SA based on its effect when a model is in cover?

Model with camouflage:2 gets bonus when it's in obsucured cover (-1 RC; 4'' from barricade, sand bags etc.) - the bonus is upgraded to -2. Model with camouflage:3 (IIRC there is only one for now :) ) gets -3 when it is in obscured or soft cover (in other word: in case of this model all kinds of cover are treated as hard cover).

The answer is basically what I was thinking. In its simplest form Camoflauge is basically an upgrade that supercedes normal cover modifiers when the camo bonus is higher than what you would get from said cover. good enough, thanks. :)

Also, I think the camoflaged unit must be spotted by the unit shooting at it. Right?

no,  it's justa penalty to hit.

However, if the unit is hidden or similarly concealed, the Camoflauge rating acts as a penalty to the Spotting units LD.

Smoke is not a terrain effect, so the camo would stack with that.  ;)
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

Yeah, Smoke stacks with it.   Ask shidoshi357 and his 10 smoke launcher Mishima force.

Joe, umm, how many units with camoflauge have an ability that allows them to ber hidden/concealed during a battle? Are you sure about that. I seem to recall on the old forums it did require a spot check to shoot at a camofauged unit.

Camoflauged units do not require a spot check to fire on.  The rating only acts as a penalty to LD for making the inital spot check or to all RC attacks.

Ya know, I keep reading it, and it says there are two benefits to camoflage.

When enemy forces attempt to fire fire at a model with the camoflage SA there were two
The first is the penalty to hit as discussed. The second benefit is that the enemy suffers a penalty on the spot check to be able to locate the camoflaged model (note it doesnt say hidden).

It just seems to be extraneous to mention that ability when there are no models that can be hidden during a battle that would require a spot check that have camoflague.

Maybe Thom can enlighten us to the intention behind the wording in this SA.

perhaps it would cover scenarios where all the models in one force are "hidden" at the beginning, like a convoy ambush, or somesuch.
