A good idea would be to Google some miniature painting guides, then cut and past a couple of pages to use as your course outline. It will also give your victim.... I mean, new painters a roadmap to follow, as you introduce the basics of painting. There are several good guides out there, find the ones that you think are well written and plagiarize...I mean adopt their ideas into your presentation.
For new painters, I would strongly recommend coverning the following:
1. Prepping the figure. Cleanliness and Godliness.
2. The tools of the Trade. Paints, brushes, files and X-actos
3. Primer is Your Friend... Black, White and Gray
4. Basic Color Selection.
5. Washes and Drybrushing.
Depending on the audience, this could take an hour or more to complete. However, even a total newb with these techniques and proper materials should be able to turn out a decent fig.
Hope that helps1
