Well, the first one's over and I'm back at the office after crashing out all of Monday. Apparently the stress of the event was too much for this spyder monkey, and I needed to crash in isolation. I've returned to the office and the computer today to read the thanks and accolades from everyone and return them. Kings to you all.
I want to thank Bryon, Jeff, Dave McGee and Phil Sperry for pulling off this event. Unbelievable effort.
Everyone who travelled and played and made this event great, well, that's what you did. I'm so happy to have met the Illinois Boys, Wedge and Coil. Kevin, John, and Hans too.
Enough of this sentimental stuff. I found myself watching the event, seeing everyone enjoy themselves, and thinking: What can I do to make next year's even better?
First, I'm going to get some Warzone models and learn the game so I'm not left out. You guys are having all the fun, and I'm going to participate. Gasp!! Chronopia boy is going to learn Warzone??!?!?!?
As for next year's event, if McGee and Mare are still in the same space and willing, I think it's the best spot. I know some would prefer a conference room, but is Thom going to able to smoke cigars there?? Let's kick around some ideas for what people want to see.
For boards, Tim Lewicki is making a huge subterranean board. Thom should have the EE boards by the next one, and between the rest of us, a whole slew of different boards for gaming. I'm going to consult Thom and Bryon about better objectives and environments. I think we did well for the first one, but the wheels are turning and I was thinking about this on the drive home from the first one.
Onward and upward.
Boogaloo--great, just great!
