I am speaking, of course, of Topkick (a.k.a. Hal). I have only known Hal through these forums, but have come to know him and count him as a friend. He epitomizes what these forums are – a gathering of people who enjoy a common interest. He is the proverbial glue holding us all together. He has made my experience on this forum pleasurable and memorable.
There is not a new person whom Hal has not gone out of the way to make feel welcomed here. I believe that Hal was the first person who welcomed me, way back when. He’s always around with a quick answer to a newb’s question. He is always willing to help new and experienced players, alike. Further, he is willing to stand up and speak for what is right, yet quick with an apology when wrong.
1000 posts have been achieved on this forum by few others (joshuaslater, Jibbajabbawocky), so Top is in good company. Of course, I hope that they all have good health insurance – carpal tunnel syndrome hurts, I hear.
I am in the habit of making icons for those who’ve made the appreciable contributions to this community as to have gained Member Emeritus status. However, every time I look at Top’s icon, I do not see Mitch Hunter – I see Topkick. Therefore, it is with honor and respect, not laziness or lack of creativity, that I will not be making one for him. His icon speaks for itself. This message of congratulations shall be my icon, for him.
The game and this community are better for having Topkick with us. Join me in my congratulations.
