Archer Con musings- expanding the scope past a house event
« on: February 27, 2007, 01:09:15 PM »
Some Archercon thoughts...

I am thinking of investigating the hotel near the house to see what the cost of space will run.  A move to expand the size and scope of our little gathering is eriely reminicent of my efforts at a 1day event in the mid-90's called 40Kon (the all 40k megaevent) and the subsequent shift to diversity for Warfaire's 1 thru 4 (yes steve, there was four of them)

If I do decide to go that route, what sort of games besides UWZ and Chrono would y'all like to see?

In my mind, I have the following (based on folks that I know play them/run them)

Excelsior's UWZ and Chronopia
Fanpro's Classic Battletech
GW's necromunda, BFG, Space Hulk and Blood Bowl
GZG's Full Thrust, Stargrunt and Dirtside II
DP9's Heavy Gear

Its just a thought... but with a bit of proper plotting to keep cost low ($10 or less for 1day, 20 or less for a Friday/Saturday thing), maybe some terrain support from a shop in Harrisburg and some of you gents, this can be done.

Obviously, it won't get done anytime soon... but there is potential for a Late Fall event... if I think it can happen.

  What does everyone think?

A fall event 1 or 2 days would be fine with me. Just need a heads up to get off. I would gladly bring some scenery.

I think what you need are T-shirts.
VeezCon products:  Not as good as if they had been actually produced by a real figure company, but better than using your shoe to proxy with...sort of!

My game suggestions:

Car Wars
Silent Death
Duel of Ages
Pirates of the Spanish Main
Rocketmen (same folks as Pirates - Whiz Kids)
Axis & Allies: Revised
Fortress America
Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel
Ogre/GEV
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

Hello.

Suggestions.
1 BFG
2 Mordehiem
3 Chronopia deathmatch
4 Warzone 3 round games 750 pts with objectives. Each round advances the objective.
5 Bloodbowl.
6 Spanish main.

Beside Chronopia and Warzone.

1. BFG

2. Full Thrust (Really want to learn this for a looong time.)

3. B5

4.  Horrorclix really caught my fancy when Steve demoed it.  It's fast, fun and can be played between "heavy" games or during a break.  Maybe we can squeeze it in?

Ok...

All of the games are pretty much givens, as they are not the standard Warhammer/W40k type things...

In order to have these games, I would need GM's for them- something I don't have a list of any more.

*In Theory*...

Who would want to run what for a one day event?
