New troop idea for Dwarves
« on: October 05, 2005, 06:40:05 AM »
I would like to see some Wolf Clan archers, with short composite bows, and little armor, to complement the new fantastic Desert Wolf Warriors.  I think whoever sculpted these should have a crack at'em.  I've fallen for the Wolf Clan because of the style of play, and the style of the sculpts; they really are a mob of soccer hooligans.  It would also give all the Dwarf players another missile option besides the Vulture Crossbows and the Horned Ones Warshields, and in terms of fluff, how did these clans survive without their own missile troops anyway?  It seems the other clans all have to order out for ranged weapons.

But gettin' back to the Wolf Clan archers, I think they would fit in with the fast movement of their other troops.  The axemen move 3" (from the errata) and the Desert Wolves 4".  Having a speedy unit of archers would keep up with the rest of the army.  Oh, and of course, like anything in the Wolf Clan army, THEY WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE!

I know EE is workin' on gettin' all the existing troops in the book done first, but it can't hurt to suggest it, even if only the stats--we've all been proxyin' somethin' or other.  Cheers.

Nah. Caught me off guard ..was a heck of a hit and my die rolling didnt catch up till I played Dalton and saved against all 3 hits from his deathseeker. .....

It was a well played game and I had a blast. Needless to say I will not have the same result next time. The impaler will be the first to go. . . LOL

J.P. --Can you find out from Thom who's sculpting the new Dwarves, and all the sculpts for that matter?  Down the road, it would be nice to see their names in the credits like on other sites in the industry.

And yes, I'll have to come up with some new surprises for our next battle.  Wheels are turning....

A troop of Wolf archers would rock, some fast Dwarves with arrows would definately help.  How about a wolf raider riding a giant wolf?  He could have a nice double shot heavy crossbow as well, that would add alot to the mobile fire area for the dwarves.

Someone posted an idea for a unit like this I have the stats some where ill post them for everyone. I play tested with tem and they were pretty awsome warband. They held up a soulflayer for the entire game. which was definitly good for the little dwarves. I'll look for the stats tonight and post them asap.

Thanks Morf--I remember them being talked about from the old forum.  I couldn't help but bring up some ideas for the Wolf Clan as the new models have been coming out.  The Horned Ones have their mounted individual, as do the Dark Tusks.  I think the Wolfies are due.  Cheers.

The cool thing about them was they were a warband and they worked well as units of 2. I am still looking for the stats. I think there at my bros house in the clutter of my dads mess, but I will find them. and post them asap.

The latest Dwarven releases were sculpted by Matt Gubser. He is both a nice guy and a talented sculptor. He is finishing up the Tunnel Fighters currently.

My gamble with EE is payin' off.  I'm in with the clans that were least finished, and the new stuff rocks. Thanks for the info Thom and please consider the wolfie archers.  As long as Herr Gubser is on a tear, he may as well knock out a few more models.  I'm eagerly anticipating the Tunnel Fighters.   ;D
