Serenity
« on: September 28, 2005, 09:40:21 AM »
I'm fairly certain I'm goin' to see this one over the weekend, even though I know nothin' about it.  My friends are rabid fans ready to storm the theatre, so I'm guessin' it's good.  Could someone illuminate this old guy (who doesn't even have cable TV) as to what it's about?

Serenity is a movie based off the short-lived series by Buffy/Angel creator Joss Weadon called Firefly detailing the events surrounding a ships crew in the far future. I wasn't a fan of the series but the movie does look fun. I look forward to seeing it. Perhaps someone who watched this series can fill in the blanks.

space western

really entertaining.  the box set is out, give it a rent then catch the movie as it fills in the majority of the loose ends of the plot.

Chinese is as widely spoken as English, Imagine space as the next frontier complete with cowboys and space vikings. lol

The opressive alliance beat the brown coats six years ago and captain Malcolm and his crew are trying to make a living on the outskirts of civilized space where they can be truly free. They pick up a few passengers to make ends meet, low and behold one of the passengers turns out to be two passengers wanted by the alliance because of their unique abilities.

Hope to see more Reavers in the movie.

just got back

IT ROCKED

not a matrix 2 or episode 1 fiasco....

Don't waste time seeing it, don't want it to get spoiled for you and the more people that see it before you do the more likely something will slip.

I saw it this weekend and was throughly impressed.  But then the whole concept of a space western excites my senses.  I mean who wouldn't jump at the opportunity to see a genre that intermingles spaceships and sixguns?  Who, I ask?  No one from the Pope to your Grandma should miss this.

This movie rocks.  I've seen it twice this past weekend and will probably see it a couple of times before it is gone.

Well worth it.

Really good movie.  The audience applauded at the end.  It was better than Cats.  I will see it again, and again.
