Didn't see anyone at GenCon last month
« on: September 23, 2006, 09:23:02 AM »
I meant to post before I left, actually, but I ran out of time.

Was anyone playing Chronopia at GenCon?  I spent all day friday, saturday, and sunday in the miniatures room, but didn't see any Chronopia or Warzone being played.  Myself, I was playing in the Wargods of Aegyptus tournament and campaign, but I was looking for Chr. and WZ.

Perhaps I'll see some of you there next year?

Alex -

For most of us Origins is the big con of the summer. I live about 5 hrs form GenCon and was going to drop in Saturday to scout the possibility of running next year but the cost was just too high. It woulda cost over 100 bucks for what would have amounted to 10 hrs of driving and about 7 hrs at the Con - and at least 1 hr of that in the reg line. No guest badge and no discount for active duty military left me cold. Granted I'm not active duty but as a veteran I think they should do something for servicemen. Based on the price structure and the attitude I felt from their website it is unlikely I will ever go back. Instead I will continue to run at Origins and then go to smaller cons to meet my fellow forumites and play.

GenCon is more RPG oriented anyway.  Plus Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast/TSR now own it so it is pretty much a vehicle for their stuff.  I'm not sure if even GW shows up any more.
VeezCon products:  Not as good as if they had been actually produced by a real figure company, but better than using your shoe to proxy with...sort of!
