I just started a process of documenting my entire miniature collection and I came across 4 of these little guys this past week amongst some random pieces.  They are all Firstborn and measured about 12mm foot to top of head, iirc.

I normally collect 25/28mm figures for almost all of my games but Chronopia/Empires would be a game I would play in a 15mm scale.

From my experience a 10mm game would appeal to Historical Wargamers immensily. More so than 28mm.

Well I know I would like it. I would love to have a game of epic battles on a reasonable scale. Those mini's rocked especially the myrmadons wo-ho!

This may get me killed but here it goes...

Since you have Chronopia, is there really any point to the Empires game?

I really don't want EE to do anything that will go the way of GW's Specialist Games.  EE should just scratch it off the "to do" list and spend those future energies and monies evolving UWZ and Chronopia.  God knows they need it.

I agree with you in that I think Excelsior should focus on UWZ and Chronopia until things flush out a bit, but I've always thought since I saw the first articles back in Target's days that Empire had great potential, and still does.

Warhamster went the way it did, not I think because of what it was, per se, but because of how it played. I played it once, and thought the rules were horrible. Yeah some of the minis were nice, but still, in the end, a stinker of a game.

Empire, on the other hand, which is based on the Chronopia rules at the time, has much more potential. Chronopia is by far a superior rules system than WH could ever dream of being, and the two would only go to support each other. The potential for interaction between the two systems, scenario-wise, idea-wise, and figure-wise, is near endless.

You have some great point, Slappy, and I can definitely understand and agree with you as far as working on UWZ and Chronopia first and foremost, I couldn't agree more. However I think once things pick up with EE, as I have no doubt that they will, and are, I think Empires deserves some serious consideration. Just let me know when I can pre-order the box set.  ;D

I don't think anyone here is saying that Empires should be pushed ahead of Chronopia or UWZ at this point.  We just want to show our support for this past endeavor that didn't quite make it, and let them know that there's still potential.  I realize that we wouldn't see anything for a few years at least concerning this game popping up again, but it can't hurt to still be fan boys and nerd about it a bit.   :P

EE could out source the Empires game to another company, that way the work load they have is not effected by spin off games and other lines, while possibley open another source of income to bolster their current productions and endevores.

That would depend on the terms of the lisence for the Chronopia and MC properties from Paradox Entertainment.  Who knows how that would turn out.

I think that I have a few of the Firstborn Swordsmen tucked away (lost is the real word) in a box someplace.  Got them years ago from Mike Murtha when he was with Target.  When me and a couple Freelancer friends came to NJ from TX for Shorecon.  I might even have a data copy of the rule someplace on my hard drive.  Before anyone asks, no I won't post it unless I get an offical OK from Thom.  Of course, I'd have to find them too!  ;)

No. Empire is a rank and file system. Like as Warhammer. But the fight and skill system is very new and very different to Chronopia and Warhammer.

I went back and re-read all of the posts in this thread and it looks like Thom already has the stuff for Empire and it's not "dead" so I will definitely not post anything like the rules.  That would be stealing and while I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaad, I'm not bad.   ;D

Hey, there ya go, Skull King - pictures of the old school Vulture totems (thank you, Chronopia Deutschland!).

Like creepy emaciated velocirapters in bondage gear.  That's how they should look!

Anybody heard of this empires game?

http://www.demonworld-empires.com/news/news.htm

The Demonworld game looks kind of cool, has anyone played it?  I still think The Chronopia Empires looks better, but it's strange that this one is so similar, and has the same name.  I don't see much of Hobby Products stuff for sale here in America, I wonder if it's not as popular over here? ???

For some reason a large box with nice artwork and two huge armies appeals a lot to me.
They make great introduction material for any gamer as well.

The demonworld game obviously didn't do well, but Warmaster has a huge folowing. Chronopia Empires would be a awesome game. I still hope it will be produced the way it was intended. The mongoose game Mighty Armies is 15mm like the original demonworld. 10mm (Warmaster/CE) means faster painting and vast battles. Oh, and the CE minis would be loose figures instead of WM's infantry strips.

The two Chronopia games can easily coexist.

I can't believe it takes so long (if ever) to publish.
