Just for refference Capital Snipers dont have Form Fireteam and then the point cost should only be 38 but I like the idea of a Sniper for this squad.

Hmmm... the Heavy Infatry Sniper has FF, but the Sea Lion and Ranger snipers do not.  I'll take it away to bring him more in line with the other Elites choice.

Steve in looking at the stats for other Capital snipers the difference is 11 pts you should change his PC to 36.

Actually, Phil, HI Sniper has Form Fireteam, and Desert Scorpion Tank Hunter has Form Fireteam.  In my opinion, I think that the Desert Scorpion Sniper would be okay in having Form Fireteam.

I like the thought of it...I like the idea of using the Manstalker instead of the God's Wrath, just because, in theory, a desert troop would be firing at shorter ranges to negate sand, wind etc...

I know that there was some fluff about Desert Scorpion snipers in 2nd Ed., but was it in UWZ also?...

have to check on that...

Thats exactly why he does'nt need Form Fireteam. The sniper rifle he choose is best at  short range and sniper gives him the 10' command distance. Also the Sea Lions and Rangers Sniper's dont have FF.

The Rangers, I can, somewhat, understand.  However, I think that it's odd that the Sea Lions Sniper is chained to his team.   That said, it is a matter of opinion, as we are talking about an unofficial unit, anyway.  I just felt that because the Tank Hunter has FF, the sniper would be a good Fireteam choice - they could support each other once they "go loud."

The difference could be in mission profile of the sniper. Standard Army snipers insert into an Area of Operations and kill higher ranking enemy officers, thus causing confusion. The elite sniper on the other hand provides sniper support for his team. Instead of hunting assests to eliminate, they provide a kind of deadly overwatch. I have to argue against the Form Fireteam ability. It goes against the elite sniper mission profile.

I think he should have it

a desert sec op team that drags the sniper behind?
more likely that he sets somewhere up to get the enemy while the normal guys push or pull them..

the sea lion sniper should also not be tied, but since they have rifels, itīs ok, I think.

Uhm - Not sure what you mean but I hope I didn't say something that would indicate the elite sniper is dead weight to be dragged along by the team. All members of a SF Team have a function - none are dead wieght.

I thought about beeing in the command distance link. effectiveness, or not, he needs to follow them.

not possible to wait at the other side of the camp to catch the fleeing civilians  ;) or something like that..

The desert scorp sniper is nice when attached to the team, especially if they need to hopd an objective.  He can take out other snipers/any enemy outside the range of the SMGs, while the regular Desert Scorps can cut down anyone with a withering hail of fire at short range.
