Title: CREATING A POINT COST SYSTEM

So I'm in the process of working on a fantasy battle system (in the tradition of WFB)

Does anyone know how one goes about building a point system for stats/abilities etc?

While not an exact answer to your question,  have you checked out HG's work over a chronopiaworld.com?  He breaks down points for chronopia and has a write up for point cost system for a warzone clone.   This would be a good starting point.

After that, I imagine it's lots of playtesting.
