I am currently working on my Capitol LI (Smokey-the-bear-hat style) and was thinking of doing something in Martian Camo. I checked out some patterns online, as well as at the local outdoor store. I tried one, but the black/grey blended in too much, and the white-ish color stands out too much. Has anyone had any success with painting Martian camo, and if so, what patterns and colors did you use? Thanks.

I did a squad of trenchers in Martian Camo based off a photo in one of the old Chronicles from first ed. I used dark red , rust red-brown , tan. and shiny silver on the helmets.
Camo was the reds on tan background on the guns and heavy red for the long coats.

Did a squad of Hussars in a red and black Tiger Camo thought as martian.
Nothing really outrageous or new, but I like it.
Doing it again I would choose a deeper red and rust color for the foundation to camo it with a lighter brown scheme.
I can up you some pics, but it would take a while since I havenīt my minis in my reach...

I painted up my Desert Scorpions using a US Forest pattern but substituted the colors for rust red or burnt sienna rather than green. These were pretty much what I picked up on the cover of the Capital sourcebook for the Mutant Chronicles RPG.

If you have a copy of the Warzone 2nd Edition Mars Sourcebook, there's a unit call Desert Infanty which are basically Light Infantry painted in desert camouflage colors.

I bought a dark orange sheet of felt at Jo Anne Etc (using a 40% off coupon). I then hung it up in the garage and sprayed various brands of auto primer red and some other earthy red brown color spray paints I had over it in some random patterns. These were the same colors I used for some of my other terrain, like my craters, so they blended in well.

That's some very nice terrain and I love the paintjob on those scorpions.
I wish I still had my Capitol and Imperial troops, the camo patterns were fun to paint.

Here is a pretty decent camo pattern:

and this one would be easy to accomplish with Codex Grey, Chaos Black and Blood Red. Base coat of Grey then do a Red pattern and then Black on top.

I decided to paint a random Brotherhood Mortificator as some sort of Desert Ops soldier from the future :D While adding to this subject, if anyone would like to comment on the mini itself please do so here (http://forum54.oli.us/index.php/topic,4826.msg53267.html#new). This pattern was very quick and easy to do. If you happen to play Call of Duty: Black Ops - this would be the "Nevada" camo pattern :) To do this Camo Pattern, I used: Graveyard Earth, Kommando Khaki, Snakebite Leather, Chaos Black, and Skull White.
