Great miniatures and painting.A very nice selection too.Love the mourning Wolves.

Very good painting. Especially love the Gray Ghost (as my gray ghost sucks). How do you paint faces? (what brushes and colours do you use?) It seems that you have great skill for it. I always end up repainting faces at least three times because eyes cover about 3/4 of the face ::)
-
Thanks for the positive comments.
For the faces, nothing special, but I never dry brush, I prefer using layers of paints, from dark to light flesh tones. For the eyes, I fisrt draw a black horizontal "almond" for each eye, I draw a second white "almond" into the black one: the resulting effect is a black-outlined white eye. Then I dip the extremity of my thinest brush (3/0), in a drop of thickened black paint, and I place a black spot in the eye, usually slighlty shifted from the center (right or left).
Hope this help (I am sure that you can find a lot of better explanations on dedicated websites. :P)
Edit: for the brushes : Raphael 8404 series (sizes: 1,0, 0/2 and 0/3), and the Vallejo Model Colors paints (although I occasionnaly use the GW paints)
Cheers,
Twinky

many thanks for useful tips (karma for you). I usually try to find a way of doing things myself and then (after few heart attacks) look for tips :) . I bet it sounds easier than it really is, but still I am looking forward to test it (which will be like in zillion years due to heaps of books to study). Maybe i will try to post some of my other(than those already in galleries) imperial units later.
BTW. A blue shirt on that mourning wolves chieftan is a great idea, did you paint it to differ her from the others or was it just an experiment?
-
Hi again !
Yes the blue shirt was to differ the squad leader from the rest. BTW, if you look closely, the leader has different clothes than the other (look at the piece of clothes hanging between the legs...
yes I know...
;D)
Cheers,
Twinky.

Nice paint jobs! I especially like the shading/outlining on the Grey Ghost; the last Mourning Wolf on the right (with the sword) looks awesome; good work on MacGuire's tiger stripes; and finally, Sean Gallagher looks great, especially teh warpaint on his face. Very clean, sharp detailing!

Great stuff! Keep more coming.

Here is finally my Hurricane :

That is one nice looking Hurricane! Good mix of bright and dull colors. Shading is great. Great paint job!
-
Great work! Looks awesome!
-
WOW! Can you paint mine??? :D
D

Hi again and thanks for the kind comments.
It is only tabletop-level painting -that's the best level I will ever achieve - but I will continue to share my work with you all.
Regards,
Twinky.

Great job on all of them Twinky! I especially like your Mourning Wolves. I gotta say, your table top paint job is way beyond my best! :o
-
I like it.
-
Aw, man, I just love that Grey ghost model. Didn't even know there was one at all.

You may consider it "Table-top" but in my opinion, your figures are painted at a significantly higher level than most I have seen. I particularly like your Hurricane....outstanding work.

Hi and thanks, really to all of you.
That's not false modesty: I am frequently looking at other painter's work, and I believe that what I'm doing it is no more than tabletop level.
To illustrate what I'm saying have a look here :

These are just painting services from some french painters, and as you can see, tabletop+ level is usually far above what I'm doing (not to mention that I spend hours on one single figure... yeah I'm a slow painter ;) )
I'm really proud however about the Hurricane, thanks.
Next to come is the Imperial Colonel. I'll post the pictures here.
