Alright, since I got myself some pod racers. I have peeked around the various locations to try and find something, but so far my luck has been limited to either too complex, requiring a grid, or bad movement systems. I want something that can work for Pod Racing, Wipeout, Extreme-G, F-Zero, etc.
So my criteria for the game are as follows:
Easy to play (learning curve should be 1 turn of the game, so no more than a couple minute explanation)
No Grid
Logical movement system that replicates fast paced racing
D6 only
Card-Based Specials (A Deck of 52 standard playing cards are the limit)
Customizable Racers
Therefore I turn to my favorite forum for ideas. I figure I'll just spitball some stuff out there and get some initial reactions. Overall Rush N' Crush is a lot like what I am looking for:

But it needs a grid to play with, for me this is a problem as making a grid for the pod racers is too much work, it is very hard to make the grid line up properly and such. Therefore I have to do without a grid.
Well anyways, here are my initial thoughts

Fantasy Flight Games has a game from their Silver Line series that may fit the bill. It's called Arena Maximus. The game itself is fantasy-based, uses cards and very easily learned. The course is easily laid out and changes every game.
Go to http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/arenamaximus.html (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/arenamaximus.html) for the pdf of the rules.
Enjoy!

Have you checked out mj12 games Powersled Circuit yet ??
The rules are available as a free PDF on their website. I'm pretty sure that the "construction" rules will NOT be in the free version.
But I haven't looked either.

I got my racers in the mail today, they are pretty decent sized, and are mounted on wheel bases (I am guessing for the Hot Wheels style tracks they had), I am going to removed them from those bases, but in such a way I can reattach them (My kids love 'em). This should be very easy, I'll then mount them on some plastic card for the game.
I am pretty happy with the rules, though they need playtested a bit and I need to get the cards and charts in order, I want the game to be very convention friendly.
I flipped through Power Sled Circuit, but it was not really what I wanted, a bit too much complexity.

extremely simple, but might be something for you the check out for ideas. I remember playing a game based on these rules at a convention years ago.

I would have to find it, but GW (gasp!) had some good Star Wars-esk speeder bike game rules that could probably be converted fairly easily.
