Oh you knew I'd get to it sooner or later....  Fair and balanced creation of the Mercs line of minis.  As they add more, I'll do more. :)

Mercs Minis for use with the Cartel or Corporate Forces as a Consultant.  May be fielded as part of a team ala Doom Trooper Team rules.  AS new members of the squad get released, I will number-crunch and post.

Yellow Jackets Combat Consultants

Mercenary Team.  One unit per army

Heavy Assault Specialist (1 per team)
Cc: 9  Rc: 11 pw: 6   Ld: 13  AC: 3  Wd: 2  ST: 6  Mv: 3  Ar: 20  Size 2 Cost: 45

Abilities:  Survival 2, Fast Shot 2, Tactical Sense
Weapons Mk 244 Buzzsaw LMG
-4/+3/+1/-1/ - / -/  Dmg 11 No loadouts.

Sniper (one per team)
Cc: 9  Rc: 11 pw: 6   Ld: 13  AC: 3  Wd: 2  ST: 6  Mv: 3  Ar: 20  Size 2 Cost: 50

Abilities:  Survival 2, Fast Shot 2, Sniper
Weapons: M451 Gods Wrath MkII, M11 Machine Pistol

(Gods Wrath Mk II can take one loadout.)

In looking at the concept art, I think there is two more troopers coming, A team leader and a normal rifleman.  I will scope them out and mull over how they will look on  the table stat wise and put them out when they get released.  :)

Please comment and constructive criticism only please.

ADMIN EDIT:  These are sculpts from Tom Mason's "Merc" line of 35mm sci-fi models.  They are available from Fantization miniatures. Remember guys to give appropriate credit where it's due.

Interesting, yes very interesting.  Freelancers are a much needed addition in keeping with the original Mutant Chronicles fluff.  I think making them similar to Doom Troopers in form (and function) is a good idea.

Thats what I thought too.  As more of the models get released, I figure they become more options for the unit.  For example- if they expand to five possible models (sketches for a flamer are in there), I can see a unit of all five models being fielded and deployed as a Doom Trooper Team.

And not only does it work, it makes sense-  They are consultants.... so they are supposed to be everywhere. :)

Ok...

In looking over the website for Mercs, I identified three more trooper types coming in the same scheme as the first two.  Team Leader, Flamer, Trooper.  Looks like a nice set up to a consultant team.  Very nice, actually...

those are nice...are they your own castings, or are they from another company...

that one, with some modification, could be a Chassuer sniper...woo hoo...

Yup.  I edited John's initial post to tell everyone what they are and how they can buy them.  Always try to give the artist their due credit.

Cheers.

I'd still use them for something else, 35mm or not, since the minis aren't being cast anymore...sometimes you just have to make do with what's available...

35 mm figs might make good size 3 units. Possibly a Cybertronic unit prototype that has flesh over a reinforced skeletal system Use the Attila or Enhanced Chassuer statline. If I get a unit that is what they will be and I would call them the C 100 "Centurian" Series. A small elite unit used where standard attilas might attract too much unwanted attention.

It says 35.... but I look at them and see Heroic 28.... which is really 30/32...

Considering they are supposedly ideal for 40k, AT-43 and all that...  I  think they fit just fine for our purposes.

That's a thought.... but I like them as the Consultant idea.  Especially if the Man give his blessing on the repair to the Consultant rules.

Actually, I found this nice little page in their FAQ: http://www.mercsminis.com/scale.aspx

So yeah, they're the right scale for Warzone. ;)
What I don't understand is the 35mm description of them.

Quote
MERCS are high quality 35mm minatures ideal for games of any size. Be it a large scale wargame, or skirmish of just a few figures, MERCS will add that extra character your army needs. MERCS are created by industry artists with a passion for high quality, superior production, and dynamic design.

I've always considered Warzone/40k to be of the 28mm range or possibly 25mm Heroic? But then again, the scales out there is really a mess, some measure to the eyes while others measure the whole figure so yeah, it's just a mess. Most pages don't offer that good of a size-comparison though, so very nice to see that. I can only hope for others to start doing that as well, really nice.

MERCS Miniatures are sculpted in true 35mm scale. No clever marketing lingo is used to define the size of the figures so when we say 35mm scale you know you can count on a figure that’s representing a 6’ tall human male stands 35mm from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.

So far the best mini manufacturer for showing customers the actual size of the models is Matt Beauchamp's Hydra Miniatures.  He has pdfs of the models at actual size, so you know exactly what you are getting.  These Merc models appear perfectly at home with models from the Warzone range.  Remember, both Warzone and Chronopia didn't have an "official" scale to begin with.  ;D

Very true....  No real official scale, as you have about eight or nine sculptors through out the various ranges and getting everyone on the same page can be a task.  So these do fit in nicely....

Thom sculpted the Vulture Crossbowmen back in the day.  I never knew this.  When I asked him what scale they were working in he just laughed and said, "scale, what scale?"

I think these Tom Mason sculpts will rock on any table.  I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that he's also done some of the Rusted Heroes models that Fantization are putting out.  I like his work.  Hm.
