Title: Gallagher Runeblade
Post by: micmellon on February 14, 2008, 03:43:35 AM
At the Gallagher Runblade is noted that it makes RENDING damage to Necrobiotics.
Should be RESIDUAL damage like the Bringer of Vengence Battlesword or the Darkslayer Katana, or?

if it´s not in the faq by now, it will likely be correct.

there are several weapons with not used special abilities..

also, i think the runeblade is not holy (?)

also, i think the runeblade is not holy (?)

I see it more as an very well made sharp blade than an holy weapon as in the context of the other two mentioned, but then again I have been know to be wrong  ;D

I think there is a reason why it has runes on the blade. I thought about a kind of magic or so...

Has anybody knowleadge if RENDING has a special effect against Necrobiotics?

as far as i know, rending (on cc weapons) has not effect at all..

RENDING only describes the way in which the weapon causes damage.....it´s like concussive or blunt......

No real geame-effexcts come with it as come with residual or radiant.

This may be one for the FAQ Team.

I couldnt find an answer anywhere. I think it supposed to have the same effect as RC but that is just my opinion, no fact to back it up.

Would be only normal to apply this rule to CC weapons also, wouldn´t it?

the point is, that extra ablative armor does only work against ballistics.

it has no effect in CC, regardless of rending/not rending CC weapons.

i do also belive that ballistic and CC rending is the same.

only nothing is resistant / weak to rending, exept the exclusion of the only-against-ballistic-EAA

In FAQ.Czech we decided to change "rending" to "residual". It is reasonable.

I believe that you have misunderstiood Toshiro, Nick.  I believe that he was only pertaining to the Runeblade.  I can see Toshiro's reasoning for doing so.  However,I will raise this to the FAQ team.

This was changed of course only for Gallagher Runeblade and Wolf´s Fang Claymore.

Thanks to dmcgee1 for clarification.

If you read the Fluff in the armory section it looks like the 2 weapons should cause residual damage as opposed to rending. Under Rending it referrs to Chainswords and serated claws. I dont think it would be overpowering if the change was made. Wolf claw Residual vs. necroorganic and Runeblade Residual vs. necrobiotic. JMHO ;D

This question has led to some rather interesting discussions among the FAQ Team. We'll see if we can find a good solution that also addresses the issue of Rending on CC-weapons in general.
