Title: 3 days
Post by: joshuaslater on December 06, 2005, 07:53:57 AM
Anyone quit smoking with the nicotine patch?  Today will be three days under my belt w/o a cigarrette, and I find myself shouting profanity that hasn't even been invented yet.  Tell me it gets better, and if it doesn't, lie, and tell me it gets better.

Thanks Jib!  Day five is so much better.  If they would just tell you on the package, "Day three's the bitch!"

c'mon, if you smoked a pack a day, that's like, 5 bucks saved a day.  By the end of the week, you could get like, two squad boxes for Warzone... EVERY WEEK!

Crunchin' the numbers, it's $1920.00 American dollars each year!  'Goin' by four cartons a month of course.

Quittin' smoking justifies any food gluttony in my mind.  Thanks!

Or you could take the wonderful EE crew to the Bards again and keep the liquor coming...

I've managed to go to my local bar with the damnable nicotine patch affixed to myself and not cave to smoking, so it is a possibility.  Drop me a line.  Cheers.

FWIW 72 hours is the amount of time it takes to get over the physiological withdrawal sysmptoms for most substances the human body can be addicted to.  That is why the 3rd day is the 'worst' because the body is literally freaking out because it wants it's 'fix'.  Also keep in mind that the patch is STILL giving you the substance you're addicted to...just in smaller and smaller doses.  When you finish the course of treatment you *may* experience slight withdrawal symptoms again although they should be milder in comparison.

And if anyone reading this is an alcoholic (one never knows) you should keep in mind that one of only two substances that witdrawing from CAN kill you is alcohol.  If you plan to quit drinking PLEASE seek the help of a physician, for your own safety.

From my colorful backstory I can tell you, I've quit a lot of things, and cigarrettes are the toughest.  Twelve days and keepin' on. I'm hoping y'all have a happy and healthy holiday season.  Cheers.

You too man!  You got past the toughest part, just as long as the people you spend the holidays with aren't smokers, you should be A-OK. :)
