thank you for the dragoon sniper, I was just about to build one and it wouldn't have looked this good. Nice work.

That's why I've thrown in with the Blood-Bone and Wolf Clan dwarves.  I can maximize the number of new models comin' out that way.  And those Desert Wolf guys are bad muthas.

I LOVE The risen archers.  The favorite is an easy pick for me - the Dwarf.  He just looks so dwarf-y, but undead.  Next would be the goblin (the hollow skull is really cool) followed closely by the firstborn.  The SoK slinger just doesn't really do anything for me.  Meh.

Thanks VERY much for releasing a core unit for my Devout - I've been waiting for these guys for ages.  I can't wait to see the Elf, who I assume will be in assortment #2.

Glad the Forums are back - I was really missing them.

New releases - very nice.

The new Risen are awesome with some very nice touches. I really like the idea of the open skull of the Goblin Archer. The Dwarves are nice too.

My only pain is the Draggon Sniper - that Flash supressor is way too big. The bipod is a nice touch and with a little work the rifle could be converted to a PSG-99 (clip angle, and the top of the gun.)

The Euthanasi are quite nice too.

                           Greetings,

I've heard a few people say that they feel the flash suppressor is wrong on the Dragoon Sniper. I attribute this to the movies where the silencers/supressors are made to look good as they do not have to function. If it is too big then you might get the look you want by sanding it down and taking off a bit from the front end

Actually it looks large but it isn't really too big. Besides, that is always something you can remove anyway. Nice that Bauhaus makes a statement.

Well, actually Cybertronic  ;)  But I`m toying with the idea to get him.

But Bauhaus has a Sniper now...

And I am very happy that the new releases made it to the Forum announcements, even if the new shop structure makes it way more easier to check them. Thumbs up!

I'd also like to chime in about the Risen archers.  Woohoo!  Too bad there isn't an ammo limit, because it would be cool to have a rule that allows Risen to pluck arrows from their bodies and shoot them back.  LOL!

...the silencer/ flashsupressor on the Bauhaus Dragoon Sniper appears to be wrapped in the same material the models camoflagued cloak is made of. Take a closer look at the paint job and you will see it. That explains the "too big" look. // My "sculpty sense" is tellin' me that's a Kev White piece...and yea, he rules.

I'm glad to see that someone gets it.  The end of the barel is just that...part of the ghille suit (yes, I know that Bauhaus snipers can't take loadouts - that needs to change ;))

The Dragoon Sniper is in a Ghille Suit? It appears to me that he has a Camo cape and what appears to be colored burlap-like wraps around the end of his weapon - a common tactic for breaking up outlines and blurring lines.  A Ghille Suit is a much more elaborate form of camouflage.

In defense of everyone who thought it looked too big - it was hard to tell the wraps were there on the unpainted fig that was posted before.

...just trying to help. I had no intention of putting anyone on the defensive by my previous post. I only thought it worth mentioning in the case someone may not have noticed the silencer/ flashsupressor wrapped in whatever material the models camoflagued cloak is made of. (I did'nt at first either). Stuff like that can sometimes be the differance between making the purchase or not and if I can help someone to enjoy MUTANT CHRONICLES more than I make no apologies for that. ("camoflagued cloak" was used as a generic definition in my previous post...I was trying to keep it short and sweet and to the point...but since it's come up whether the model is wearing a ghuillie suit or not I'm with dmcgee1 on that. As you may know there are different sorts of ghuillie "suits": ranging from ones that cover the entire body like a suit; to ones that cover the upper body only; even ghuillie ponchos; kits are also available to customise the suit and they can be modified as to how much of the body is covered. I am fairly certain any sniper who takes their work seriously would be wearing the most elaborate form of camoflague possible i.e. a ghuillie suit - in the case of the model in question I would also say he is wearing a ghuillie suit...more specifically a ghuillie poncho (they open in the front and look like ah...well like what the mini is wearing).  :D

I didn't realize I came across as defensive. I apologize if my tone offended everyone. Chalk it up to a difference in understanding the stages of camouflage and not feeling well.

sorry...when you said "in defense of everyone who thought it looked too big" I thought I may have unintentionally come across with an acusational/wrong tone in my post which is why I wrote "I had no intention of putting anyone on the defensive by my previous post". Mayhaps "defensive" was too strong a word. The one responsible has been sacked.  ;) I hope your feeling better.

Not a prob, Top.  The paint job is mine, and the figure, itself, is Thom's re-work of my conversion - I took no offense.  ;)

...nice work on the Dragoon sniper dmcgee1 and Thom. The weapon looks like a Hagelsturm shotgun modified to look like a new sort of sniper rifle and not at all like the PSG-99 sniper rifle in the Bauhaus Armory...is it a new sniper rifle?
Title: Re: August's New Releases

Actually, if you look closely enough, it is the Bauhaus Dragoon Kaptain with a cloak (ghille suit - whatever) and a conversion of the LMG with which the Kaptain is, normally, outfitted.

"Oversized" weapons are pretty much par for the course in the "modern" 28mm range.  What would be scale weapons look small and frankly larger weapons add to the dramatic flair of the figure.  We've all seen sculpts by third tier companies that tried to go for realism and their weapons look puny and ineffective.  Besides, who looks at a MC fig and says "That machinegune is waaay to big!"?

I see a lot of the wrapping of the barrel like you describe over here but I think it's more to keep dust off than anything else.  Which leads me to a major problem with realism.  Frankly if the corporate militaries are anywhere near as screwed up as real life militaries, one needs to paint them (regardless of where they are supposed to be fighting-i.e. desert, jungle or whatever) with half their gear for one environment and half for another one completele (dessert trousers and shirt with jungle flack jacket and shoulder pads).  Better yet, devise a cammo scheme that works poorly in every environment.  Make sure noone in the squad has a set that matches because even thought they've been fighting on Mars or Venus or whatever for a thousand years or so supply can't keep up with the changes in uniform regulations.  This applies mainly to Capitol (just because their military is so freaking big) and Imperial (the beauracracy can't keep up).  Bauhaus is too efficient for this to be a problem, Mishima doesn't believe in camoflauge and everything goes with powder blue metallic (Cybertronic of course).  Brotherhood troops would get whatever they get because their dress code would appear to be black, white, or grey.  The DL has no fashion code other than "worn when you are still alive and have not had time to change since you got killed/transmorgified" which works well for them.  Arguably all my stuff is painted uniformly but I am hypocritical that way.

Sue me.

"...oh, I see it now, thanks. Is it the PSG-99 or a new Bauhaus sniper rifle?"

Well, as the rules go, take it as a PSG-99. If you want to see a "real" one check the old Bauhaus Dragoon captain. And it is available in the weapons pack too if you want some conversions. But beware - it is a bit different scale as it was done for the 1st Ed.

...Thanks CATINATOR, will do.

...VEEZ, right on about "oversized" looking better than absolute scale accurate stuff and the comments about a uniform appearance. One thing I love about MUTANT CHRONICLES/ WARZONE is it truly has something for everyone and the opportunities for customisation (while staying within already established concepts) is what makes this game, as I like to say, "the only Tabletop Wargame youll ever need".

You can do pretty much whatever you want with it from WWII-esque trench warfare to amphibious assaults to wall fights.  I would like to see a halfway point between the RPG and the TTG with (and I hate to invoke the great gaming Satan) a Kill Team type rule set.  Might be good for the Luna supplement.  I mean you could do it now; just set a low points limit and rule out uber characters (not sure what criteria I'd use-I don't have the rules handy).   In fact the double-blind deployment system is perfect for that sort of goodness.  I've noticed that WZ players are very generous about tweaking the rules to make scenarios work.

BTW Timthetekron-you weren't once MortificatorT were you?

Veez if you want to run somrthing like kill teams try a infiltrate the citadel scenario using only Doomtroopers. You could have 5 2-man teams with a 6th person controlling the Dark Legion forces you encounter within the citadel.

If only there was already a table top game like that... ;)*

But seriously that is a great idea and all the tools are there.  One of my fantasies, ahem, gaming fantasies is to either buy enough dungeon tiles from Master Maze (?) or make my own dungeon corridors using Hurst (sp?) Arts molds and mix it with the DL resin stuff to create a SOTC scenario.

On my list of things to do before I die.

...Seige of the citadel is just the coolest boxed game[.] A buddy of mine actually owns five of 'em! I have two, my nephew has one and another freind has one. The whole premise of Doomtroopers being sent in to attack a Dark Legion Citadel makes for the coolest gaming experiance I've ever had - and the possibilities for scenarios are as endless as they are fun to play...with no less than five Dark Apostles to choose from, not to mention the five Megacorporations, the Brotherhood, and Independant/Freelance/Malcontent types like the Darkslayers for example. // Something we do is have one person come up with the Seige scenario and act as MCM. (Mutant Chronicles Master). We use Warzone rules with whatever house rules seem appropriate and the result is something like whats being discussed here- a game experiance that feels like a RPG because of the MCM and a TTG because of the Warzone rules. You can play a one-and-done scenario or thread afew together like a mini-campaign or just keep 'em going as long as the interest continues. Even if you loose a character, you can do-up another one and find some reason to get them into the ongoing mix.

...and for those who may be interested in such things...

"THE DOOMTROOPERS
The official military force of the Cartel is the Doomtroopers, the most famous and respected soldiers in the Solar System. Elite commando warriors specially trained to battle the forces of the Dark Legions, they are actually able to match the ferocity of the nepharites and have been trained to strike at the very core of the evil."

-(Mutant Chronicles RPG 2nd edition p.13).

"DOOMTROOPER: The Doomtroopers are the ultimate warriors in the system. The Cartel culls the finest soldiers from all the corporations when it recruits for the legendary Doomtroopers. Just a handful of these men and women can defeat entire cohorts of the Dark legion."

-(Mutant Chronicles RPG 2nd edition p 60).

...and if you would like to see an illustration of the above Quoted descriptions of Doomtroopers in action, check out (p.5 in the WARZONE 1st edition rulebook)!

"THE DOOM-TROOPERS
...EQUIPMENT. The equipment and the weapons used by the Doomtroopers are developed by the megacorporations in close cooperation with the Doomtrooper technicians. The technology used is always state of the art and superior to standard designs available. Many of the weapons only exist as prototypes. The armor carried by the soldiers is made of light plastics and ceramics. It is given a cushioned interior constructed from new energy absorbing materials provided by Cybertronic."

-(Mutant Chronicles RPG 2nd edition p.198).

"THE KOHORTS                                                                                                                            Each infantry Kohort is made up of 1000 Undead Legionnaires, 200 Necro mutants, 100 Centurions, 50 Razides, 1 <<regular>> Nepharite, plus any << support creatures>> detached to it. Each Kohort is broken down into companies, consisting of 100 Legionnaires, 20 Necromutants, 10 Centurions and 5 Razides. Each company can be further broken down into sections. These normally consist of 3-4 Legionnaires led by a Centurion or a Necromutant.
All this is theoretical, of course. On the field of battle, because of casualties, Legions and Kohorts are rarely at full srtength. A typical Kohort in the field is likely to have (1d4+6)x100 Legionnaires with 1 Necromutant per 5 Legionnaires, 1 Centurion per 10 Legionnaires, 1 Razide per 20 Legionnaires and 1 Nepharite per Kohort."

-(Mutant Chronicles ALGEROTH RPG Sourcebook p.85).

...sorry to be so long winded, but in case you may have missed any, I thought some of you may want to see some topic specific background fluff from the early days from various sources. Hopefully you may find it of use and it might inspire you to take command of a Doomtrooper force and lay seige to a Dark Legion Citadel.

...VEEZ, I've always been none other than Timthetekron here and on the old EE site.
