Pretty much based off of current asymmetric warfare concepts.

in sense of: they are better equipt than us?
-> it all comes down to brutality..
if someone comes up and says: surrender or we throw a big stone into the atlantic you can put this books/ideas pritty much away..
if they make themselfs the work to occupie with ground forces, itīs still impossible to win.. they have a frigging spaceship and can retreat & return as they want..

According to the link, were are at type .7 civ, not even a type 1. Aliens, on the other hand, are type 2 or type 3 which they can pretty much kick our collective %$#. If they can fiddle around with stars and make huge Dyson Spheres, were just probably insects to them.
Guerilla warfare or otherwise, type .7s are no match for a civilization that messes around with suns and galaxies.
