Title: Post Archercon
Post by: Archer on March 18, 2007, 10:30:56 AM
Well...

I would say it was a success;  Archercon 1 had five Attendees (Philly, wmerideth, joshslater, CKGeist and Prime) and much dice was thrown.  In the course of the night, I played three games (UWZ 1, Chrono 2)) of which I got beat twice (both chrono games).

After the dice slinging was done, the cards came out and some Texas Hold'em was played (my other win for the night)

Next event is Between Books in April; Josh is setting it up and will have further Details.  The next Archercon, depending on interest, will be shooting for a hotel conference room.  That one, money will have to be charged... as the most I can have here is about eight and remain comfortable space-wise.  I'll be looking into that soon.

Good chance if some of the attendees stay at the hotel that the cost for a conference room will be either comped or reduced. Just a thought

I wanna thank Archer for opening up his spot to us. Archercon was a blast!. Archer had his own wolf totem running around all day... even when no Chronopia games were being played  ;D The games were great the company was fantastic and the fun was out of this world!!!. Thx John it was much appreciated

Karma for the host and namesake of the event. Huzzah for Archer.

Seriously I wish I could have attended but life gets in the way. Looking forward to Origins and Archer-Con II

Philly,

you and the boyz are welcome.  Caleb the "wolf-totem" was tuckered out after the attentions all of you gave him; he was snoozing a good portion of the day yesterday.

Sure.

btw- I think that ram with the demon against my Knight was wrong- you had to climb over that tree to get to him and the swordsman or go through the bone golem.

It just occurred to me sittin' here.

Perhaps.  What was truly wrong was not handing Bryon the gas money johnny-on-the-spot on the way home.  I should have drawn more from the ATM, so I'm hoping he will accept my public apology and I'll square it up with him the next time I see him.  He was most kind getting us to and from the event and I don't like leaving him hanging.

'Til next time, Archer.  I'll have to learn some Warzone so you can school me in that too.  The student becomes the master.  Mwahahahahahaha!!!

If theres a snowstorm next Archercon, I'm just gonna drive there the night before.  Better to have my car buried there, then be stranded at home.  (good thing I had some beer there.)

Heh.

Beat McGee then come talk to me.  :o  The only difference 'tween him and I on the UWZ table is I manage to keep battleplans and manuever timing intact a bit better than him in tourney...

Told you guys this before and there is a hint on the Demo Spec's fig... (damn you thom)  Throw me off my timing and you got a chance.  I never go into a battle with out two timetable/battle plans and a last-ditch scheme (the infamous Plan C).

For the record, I have had to go to Plan C three times. :)

Whup me in Tourney and the bullseye is yours.  And we will have a tourney... I should think.

Hal, is there one at Origins?

No tourney at Origins. At the time we put events together we didn't know half the East Coast was attending. We will set one up sometime. My vote is for Philly - what better place for the Talaminiatures Open?

 ;D ;D

Good point on both counts.  I can discuss with folks and see when is a good time for such an event.  Maybe September timeframe...  No promises, though.  I need to figure out what my life is going to look like in three months before I even try to org something like that.

I'll throw it in another post sometime this week.

Labor Day Weekend would give us a 3 day Mini-fest....

Probably ought to plan on a 2 day event though so the King and I can attend the wake for Archer's ego.  :o

MK - we'll have to play a rousing round of rock, paper, scissors for the honor of crushing young Archy  ;D

very funny...  Not my fault I game my best in tourney setting... McGee has beaten me in non-tourney lots of times; we never seemed to draw each other in the last few events though- not my doing, I assure you.

I'd love to take him on- as I think he can take this mantle that has been assigned me (and I admittedly have taken it willingly. ;)  )  Last three times he and I have played, he's beaten the snot outa my armies and I think he can do it in tourney should we draw each other.

Then his payback for that game versus The Machine should be complete. :)

labor day weekend MIGHT be bad for me too. (at least one day out of those 3 days)

;D  thats funny....Archers Ego is mighty foe, more deadlier then archer himself  :P
Havent played Warzone in awhile, might need to go into training (insert rocky training music)
need a punching bag ...uh um people to play against ...(wheres Jibba and Iron Panda  :P)

you know I dont remember I the last time I played archer in warzone...at the cons we always mean too but never match up, though I do find dave across the table (in all his Bahaus glory) everytime  :P

Steve,  we do keep meaning to...  heck, I was looking forward to it when we made it to Maplewood that time.  Instead you rooked Dave and I gave Panda a beat down.  Next time we are at the same event, we gotta play *something*

Heck, last game we played one another in at all was Chrono- and I had Refsland's Kronos.

Sat across from Thom more than once and was never beaten; Won the 2nd ever Ranking Tournament held; Have never been beat in organized play at Origins. In fact I have never been beaten at a Con - ever! Is this Smack Talk or Fact.....Only Semai knows for sure  ;D

I might have to make the trip to Origins now. Ive beaten everyone Ive played except for Archer and Masher <Id never bring THAT force to a Con>. Time to add a TOP butt whoopin to the list.  :D

You grow wise in the ways of Semai.  ;D

You are correct - I only played Thom once and had to leave in the middle of the game so it doesn't count, but have sat accross the table talking to him several times.

I did win the Ranking Tournament. No embellishment there.

Who can figure out the rest of it? The statements are true, but are they accurate? Only Semai knows for sure.

Never beaten at a convention- usually because you are running the Event. :)

For the longest time, I could say I was the the highest overall in many a tourney but never won- because I usually had to play "filler" to even out the players and I tended to tackle the tougher players and keeping them with the rest of the pack. (Sorry Phill)

When I finally played in a tourney as a *Player*, I tended to win out- with the last Dexcon tourney I played in being a squeaker of an overall.  I wanted to get to that ranking event but couldn't make it.

Desert crusaders and more Black Sisters being painted this week.  Sisters need about five minutes of work each and they are table ready.  Crusaders a bit more (maybe fifteen each)...  Dunno if I will bring them or the beefed up "Machine" to the Between Books game day.  8)

So quickly do they learn the lessons you inspire o' Master of Deciet   :o  ;D
