Title: Archercon!!
Post by: Archer on February 13, 2007, 06:37:11 AM
(ok- this is a GO at this time…)

Archer Productions, in conjunction with Black Sheep LLtGF (Lady Leslie the Gamer-Fox) are proud to present…

ARCHERcon 1  (yes- 1; if this doesn’t wreck the place, there will be a few more)

Archercon is held in beautiful(?) Reading Pa at 1410 Hampden Blvd on the 17th of March, 2007.
Parking is tight but there is plenty in walking distance.

A few items to note:

The Gamer-Fox’s Den has several animals in it- a Snake, a Cat, 11(!!) birds and a clown of a dog.  Anyone with allergies is forewarned…

Events as planned (terrain donations depending) are as follows:

 Miniature Games:
Ultimate Warzone
Chronopia
Doom Trooper Raids (more on this in a different post)
Battletech (added game)

and potentially more games up for play!

Painting:
Open Painting (place for Primer Work available)

Other:
Playstation 2 gaming- NCAA 05 Football, SOCOM US Navy Seals 2 and 3, Conflict Global Terror.  More Titles can be added as need be.

The neato stuff and disclaimers:

Snacks and Beverage will be available* and there is a really good Italian restaurant/pizzeria two blocks away for food.

As it is Saint Patrick’s Day, imbibers of the Sacred Beverages (Including but not limited to single malt or Guiness) Shall be handing Keys over.  There will be no transit accidents after this event due to imbibing a bit too much.  So if you expect to have a few, pack a bag.  The police here can be mean...and we like them that way.

Those driving further than 3 hours away automatically have the right to snag crash-space.  Please let us know in advance so we may plan out the space so everone has a place to be.

No horseplay please- too many breakable/antiques.    If the desire for such is strong, you can be taken to the barn and actually indulge in such with the horse(s).  I am certain Pappy will be amused…He's as much of  a clown as the dog and a lot bigger.

*- donations to the cause are very graciously accepted... and contributions to the snack and beverage collection will be eaten. :)

VeezCon would like to express its interest as a proud sponsor of ArcherCon1.  We will be able to provide material and landscaping support.  Sadly we will be unable to provide personnel due to an upcoming training event.

Okay!!  I haven't scheduled anything with Greg at Between Books yet.  I'd rather see one event pulled off right, than too many done half way.

Dalton will surely not make it.  Bouncing on St. Patty's day is his busy season.  Will Meredith and I will prolly make it now that his schedule is more normalized, and I'm hoping we can get a ride up with Bryon PhillySniper or somebody.  Let me know what terrain to bring, as I'm getting a substantial amount of jungle gear from PetSmart!

As always, Archer Productions is alway welcoming of Veezcon Material Support.  Incidentally, the warward agent has been located and will be tained shortly.  Expect him to be shipped to you location by next week.

Top,

Remember that since you are over three hours away, you got crash space.  Nearest Airports to us are Lehigh Valley (Allentown/Bethlehem), Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
Reading has an airport but I don't think anyone flys into/out of there except charters.

Well, it is a month away.  She may cave before then.

Incidentally, can you and the others bring terrain?

I think a road trip might be in order... :)

A question: How are you having the wee dog being fed people food?  I am a notorious sucker for animals.

Thats a no-no in this house.  We have managed to keep Caleb off of human food- no human food, no begging at the table.

Tinman;

I'm in town all that week, not leaving until Monday. So do you want to get fed to the Spiders or the Dino's? Your choice, and I may even have them painted. Then again maybe not, it's always more embarassing to get squished by an unpainted Hammer than a pretty one.

Well, i guess he'll just have to make due with extra belly scratching. :)

I do believe, I hear the screams of more poor Capital doughboys being ground under the Hammer and Anvil.

On second thought I'll bring stunties (beat you with your own kind) and Sandpeople (We told the Caps to stay out out of the Sandbox, oh well).

Anyhow, looks like I'm in not sure who I'm bringin, but I will prolly need to do some purchasing if anyone is looking to dump figs.

Chuckie- who says I am bringing Capitol to that dino-shoot?  I know I got lucky the first time I faced Hammer/Anvil and I admit it.  I know better now... and I have a better trick up my sleeve.  A much better trick up my sleeve.

I hope your commander brought a big enough coffin for your pets....

As for Chrono-  Beating me in Chronopia is no big feat- I lose alot of games with my first born and losing in Chrono does not bother me- as long as it's a good close game.   Which reminds me....

TinMan, Tinman

Remember this, you may have a trick up your sleeve, but unless I forget H&A has never been beat...Dino's yes. H& A  Not so much..To include when you played them (admitted by you) bass ackward againt a bunch of rusted tincans.. I may bring them just to prove a point, But I have something else in mind..BTW Are the Heroes allowed, since they were slated to be published before company went bye bye? If not No big, and what is the ruling on mounted. Do they cost an action for the rider to shoot or are they like vehicles?

Never been beat...  Um.  No.  I beat them... Granted, it was in an error-filled game on both sides but I beat them with troops left on the Artic Tundra.  Then again, I beat the first version of them without breaking a sweat using my Cartel.  An army I was experimenting with at the time too. :)

To my knowledge, I'm the ONLY person to beat them... and while I have avoided fighting that game again, I am willing to.  But it you have something that you feel can beat me, by all means bring it. :)

IIRC, they are considered one model so action 1 dino moves, action two rider shoots, action three dino moves unless I am mistaken, and I may be- I don't use them unless I am feeding my army roast raptor.

The Heroes thing is something no one has heard of, Chuck.  Hell, I barely remember it.

IIRC heroes  was a step between Individuals and Personalities. To me they were a dangerous step onto the slippery slope of uber characters that would have lead to the imbalances that plagued the 1st ed.

John -

It will probably be another week before I can nail an answer down from work. I am currently wieighing the options of driving vs the train. How close is the nearest Amtrack station to you? The parking situation? I will give you an answer next Friday. I hope that does not throw your logistics off.

Hal;

If you decide on the train and you get to the Philly ,(30th st) station, I can get you up to John's. Just drop me an E-mail or call..still same number.

John,

Just checking on the Heroes, figured not, but wanted to see how the Crescentian one plated out. NO Big..As for the Dino's no probs there either, even if they are over costed...I can adapt.

And beating an army because the game was ERROR filled (and boy was it) doesn't count. THe Earlier version I will concede, however. I shouldn't have put a half-cooked (finished) army on the field , especially against you. I'll bring the HAus regardless what actual army I plan on playing, because I know there will be much smack and I will have to put it down.

Nah- doesn't throw anything off.  Nearest Amtrack station to me is Lancaster PA- about a 40 minute drive.  Parking by me is not great but depending on bodies coming, it should be fine.

Yeah it was a messy game, wasn't it.  But the fact remains, had you beaten me, you'd have crowed all over about it... and we both know it.  ;D :D ;D

Thanks for the compliment... You are not the only one to learn not to half-baked against me.  The Philly crowd used to throw concept armies against me to see how they fared- Two have gotten scary armies out of it too...  Jeff consistantly takes me to the wire every time (split games, iirc) and Dave Imperials has punted me all over the table.  *shrug*  (I'll never get the chance to hunt down Dave's Imperials- I believe he longer has them)
Not done that in a while but oh well...  At least I get to teach Leslie some of the game.

I suspect whatever you throw at me will be a tight list and very difficult to face.  But I expect nothing less outa you... you are too competetive not to put forth your best.  ;)

Hate to spoil the fun with details, but what size army lists. For those looking for bragging rights?

WE doing catch as catch can or playing out tourney style..Because from where I'm sitting you have several heavy hitters attending?

"Sir, you're mortally wounded what do we do about the encroaching Capital line?"
"You are a Homebuilder Soldier, You do as you have been trained from birth. You smash them like the rabble that they are!!" Words over between a homebuilder Kommandant and senior NCO before the surprise rally and subsequent  route of Capital by Bauhaus forces at the battle of Frenchman's Flats

Catch as catch can.  Considering the table are only so large, its up to you guys what size game you wanna play.  I mean, if you want to do the humungo 3k-a-side battle royale, go for it; though you will be bogarting the diningroom table for it. (btw- I can *almost* pull that off.... and not with the army you think)

If anyone is looking for Bragging Rights for whupping folks, I suspect a 750 to 800 point list is fair.  It's what started Dave on his hatred of things Cyber.  Jeff just compounded it... ;D ;D :o ;D ;D

Actually my friend from the midwest (and I need to know if you need a ride before the 12th) , bit the tinman and I have beaten the old coot. Tinman with (I believe) the 5 hundred thousand LI and a shark. Which should go down as the most annoying army in history. That army was like shooting fish in a barrel, except it wasa bottomless barrel, I thik I ran out of bulets. And I beat him at the Shop with The Hammer. ME and Hans also whooped him and Dodger in a Mega BAttle at the shop Haus versus Cyber. You would be amazed at what 6 lge squads of dragoons (with snipers) on a hill can do to an enemy advance. That was when we learned that templates can be used on your own guys with a ldrshp roll.

AS for chronopia most people have that bragging right, except I think Tinman...

I think I can come up with 3000 pts though..could be skimpy but hey..

The verdict is in - I will not be attending Archercon.

I got a call this morning that an officer was not going to come in at 1000 hrs as scheduled. This left me with an open post. This is on top of having one officer off due to family medical emergency. Then I had another officer that had a family memeber admitted to the hospital today. All this is at the same site which started the week shorthanded and in Outage. The bottom line is I have two more officers off; making me short 4 and one who will probably be fired for her transgression. Open posts cost my company big fines and my bosses usually like to crucify the people that cost them that much dinero. I will be trying to get people hired and trained so a long weekend to game is going to have to wait.
