Title: Tournament of Death
Post by: DogOWar on January 06, 2007, 10:02:06 AM
On Dec. 30th We(the 4-state crew), held our first Deathmatch games.  As seems par for the course not all our schedules matched up and we didn't get to play as long as we wanted to, but oh well.  Everybody had a good time, even me :D.  I got to play 3 games: 2 vs CL, and 1 vs FB.

Game 1:  Devout vs Firstborn.  Have you ever had one of those games where nothing went right?  This was one of several of those games for me on this day.  I won't waste the space on the action, as there was none on my side.  I have never rolled so poorly in my life, nothing under a 10 the whole game(but something like 6 or 7 20"s) :-[!!!!.  Cannonball(FB) beat me like a drum.  He beat me so bad several of his models just stood around and used their actions just to hurl taunts.  I believe the FB lost 1 or 2 models while I lost everything, my Dusk Realm  Demon was finally trapped and cut down like a dog.  'NUFF SAID!!!

Game 2:  Devout vs CL Elves.  This board waas titled the valley of death, and that was exactly what it was.  This was a GREAT game.  This game went back and forth with much laughter and swearing from both sides.  Finally a Darkeye with one wound vs a Crystal Knight with 2 wounds left faced off in the center of the board.  Several rounds of feroucious cambat followed both opponents hit and were hit on almost every dice roll, but almost all were saved against.  The CK took a wound while the Darkeye managed to stay at 1 wound.  As we rolled initiative for what we both knew would be the final round, tensions were high.  The Darkeye won initiatve and DogOWar was never so happy ;D,  The Crystal Knight (Unruh-ly) cursed like a sailor.  I was savoring my first victory as I rolled my die.............a 20 :o  :-[ :o >:( :o :( :o >:(.......&*&%!@$&&*^$@@!$%^^$ ......(sound of dice being hurled across room,  And an elf lords laughter).  The CK promptly rolled a one.  This was a really great game , down to the wire and very nerve racking.

Game 3:  Devout vs CL Elves.  This was another game that does not need alot of description.  Once again I was the drum.  I could do no right.  All I heard most of the game was a chubby elf lords smack talk and laughter.  The only thing really of note was the number of 20's I rolled on model's 1st actions!!!!!! >:( >:( >:(.  'NUFF SAID.

Despite my poor showing I still had a great time.  I got to hang with my bud's and watch them have a great time wiping the floor with me :D.  They (Cannonball, and Unruh-ly) now have very little fear of my Devout, which I hope to use to my advantage next time!  I got to try some new models that I never got to play before, as well as trying out a couple of troop combos that I wanted to see in action.  The lesson I learned was that Chronopia is like pizza, no matter how bad it is, its still pretty d@mn good!

                                                     VENGENCE WILL BE MINE !!!!!!!!!!

The mocking of chubby Elf lords spears our fragile egos and burns like hot magma.

Chubby?!  ahhh, after feasting on victory twice, no doubt your emaciated failure of troops felt a bit down trodden.

Ha HA

i mock you!

not a bad game, reccomend the deathmatch rules, good to get the feel of the game, or to try out new units, i was able to play mini's that i normally dont pick in a war, of course, the way dog-o-war was playing, i could have had my smurf warband out there dealing out blue fisted justice

Indeed, Troy-the-just-alittle-chubby-elflord has a wickedly sharp tongue(its also forked ;D), but atleast he comes by it honestly, he's a lawyer ::).

I would recommend the "Deathmatch" rules to anyone.  It is definitly a different dynamic and a very fun way to vary a game of Chronopia.  Its quite fast ond does not leave a lot of room for mistakes.  It reminds me of the  "Sqaud Leader" game (by Avalon Hill I believe).  You are only allowed one Individual and you have to be careful how and when to commit him.  But, if you wait to long then your also in trouble.  I have to say I like it.

Whether it's deathmatch or really small games--it's a nice change.

@troy-the-just.......speaking of blue fisted justice, I have an idea.  Canonball has all those old GW goblins that I could paint blue and and a goblin shaman you could use as Pappa Smurf!  The Smuf's could defend their pathetic little collection of hovels from the dastardly GARGAMEL THE GREAT(Warp Lord) and his horde who will once and for all paut an end to the cowardly baby blue menace.  Wouldn't that be smurfy ;D

actually, throw in an Azrael the cat giant figure for you, and give papa and smarty smurf some shaman like spells, hefty smurft a couple of wounds and good strength, a couple of pints of whiskey, and you have yourself a deal, would be hilarious.  if cannonball wants to play, we can get him some my pretty poney mini's to play, or perhaps some fraggles

LOL ;D............Fraggles would rock(pun intended), he could proxy dwarves or something.  I was thinking you could use either swamp goblins (shaman for pappa, alchemist for brainy) or blackblood goblins , giving them forrest warrior, set a few smurfy traps, plenty of trees to break things up, etc.  Hefty could be a deathseeker!!! :o :D  We have got to do this!!!  If you win( and for the Dark Lords sake I hope not) you could assault Gargamel's decrepit tower, ha ha.  What a great theme battle!
