Title: Cybertronic Morale
Post by: mchiao on October 01, 2005, 03:09:07 PM
Got a question about Cytronic's Morale/AMOK table.

When do I need to do a morale test for A.I.?  It says in the rule book that A.I. are not required to make Morale Tests against panic or fear.

Does that include DIRE?  I'm still a newbie when it comes to UWZ, I can not think of anything else that requires a morale test besides panic and fear.  I'm also ruling out broken because that comes after panic.  If you are not testing for panic, broken does not come into play is my thinking.

thanks

1. AI's are not affected by the penalties in LD caused by Dire, as it is a Morale-based penalty, which does not apply to AI's.

2. There are several things which cause non-morale related panic tests: some spells, taking wounds, etc.

I thought taking wounds and testing for morale is a panic check for individual.  Isn't that a panic test? no?

Anytime that a unit would normaly take a Morale or Panic type test against Leadership the AI unit must make an AMOK test with their AI value acting as a penalty.

Until I hear from on high,
The Dire rating still applies as most attack toasters of the future are smart enough to realize that they are completely boned and that it's time to make preperations for that giant recycling plant in the sky.

It's not that they don't panic, they just do it in different ways, ie losing functionality or dealing with it by stickin their fingers in their ears, shutting down and ignoring it until it goes away or beats them senseless

I understand that but the rule also says that dont test for panic nor fear.  Unless it meant to use the AMOK table instead?

They don't panic, they run AMOK.

PFC joe,

Maybe I did not phase my question correctly.  I understand that A.I. dont use mortal rule for panic or fear.  A.I. uses AMOK table.

However, in the rule book, it also states that A.I. does not panic nor fear because they are pretty much a machine.  Does that meant they still 'panic' and 'fear' but use the AMOK table instead?

Hence, the Amok table.  You are correct in that they do not use the "normal" panic rules.  Instead, anytime a "normal" model would make a LD test for morale/panic issues, A.I.'s make the same test - but, if they fail, they do  not "Panic" - instead, they roll on the Amok Table and use those results.

Being A.I. does not make them immune to the situation.  Being A.I. means that they will never Panic (they won't suffer the -3 to RC/CC/LD, etc.), and they will not have to rally to recover.  They simply recover the next turn, after the effects have been resolved.

Woot!

E Prime makes this official  8)

This thread is getting printed and taken in to my group this weekend.  We had  huge 'discussion' on this the other week and I just gave in and their AI's were immune to ever rolling on the amok table except for that funky weapon tht the MIshima individual whos-name-I-can-not-currently-remember has.
