Title: Mongoblian Horde: Death Chicken Army
Post by: DogOWar on November 05, 2006, 10:20:50 AM
@Masherking.  One of my buddies wanted to know the force makeup of this one-of-a-kind force.  Could you give me the list--PPPLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEE- with sugar on top ;D

I second the request. It would be nice to see the list and do you have all the miniatures for it?

its a very simiple list...it is a little tough to play but fun ;)

list for 500pts.

4 ripper lancers
4 ripper archers
1 goblin chariot,

for a thousand points just double
for 2000pts just double the 1000pts list

2000pts ex:
16 ripper lancers
16 archers
4 chariots

this a choose your target and choose it well kinda army.(at least with lancers)
Lancers are going to have a hard time in a drag out HTH (xtra wound helps only so much). they have a great  charge attack but there their follow up is so so...yet you can, between the beast and rider, do up to 4 wounds of damage a turn. Its hard but do'able. Lancer units should back each other up as much as possible. Have ripper archers soften a unit up before changing if you can.

Archers should shoot everything and anthing thats in range of course. I tend rely alot on the bows. the  RC score is so so and damage not so high, it really is a volley of fire kinda thing.
use the speed to stay away from HTH.

chariots are your killers...trample, trample and trample again. if you get a good line up this guy can kill a whole unit in one blow. have a squad of lancers play escort

if you play using the chronopia campaign rules I might add a individual lancer or ripper archer to watch its stats incress though the campaign. Becomes your own home made character 8)

I havent seen this list play at higher points yet (i only got 500pts ) if you do please post the results   ;)

Thanks Masherking you rock!  I tried something close to this years ago.  I had a full unit of ripper beast archers and lancers with a blackblood army(1000 pts.) using that "other" game's wolfriders for proxies.  I made the mistake of sticking my lancers in to soon and not getting them unstuck fast enough.  My lancers got creamed!  At the time we were using the point cost from the book(before I read the fag) so it was a big loss of points for my Blackbloods.  I was trying to turn the other guys flank and instead got mine turned!  I agree that you gotta be careful how you play them. Thanks for the info.

No, we haven't got to yet.  Its on our to do list.  Since the rippers are so hard to come by we will have to proxy, we may get to it after 1st of year.

I've run across the same problem. Who the knew the ripper beast would be chronopia's ultra-rare figure

@Masherking-- Since I'm a fan of Blackbloods it is disappointing.  Rippers, Ogres and Trolls are something I hardly ever see(ebay or whatever), with the exception of the Ogre standardbearer, they must of made a ton of him as that is what I usually run across.  I bought a lot off ebay a while back that included 2 ripperbeasts, and was chomping at the bit to check them out.  I sorted all the pieces out and quess what?  No riders for the ripper beasts were there!  !@#*^%#^*(&*^$#@ !!!!!!  Sorry, it still makes me mad and sad.  If I  had known I would have bought a ton of ripper beasts back when.

I'm thinking of using GW LotR warg riders or WFB goblin wolf riders as proxies.

I know Reaper has an Axebeak model but I don't know if it's too big to use.  If it's sized correctly, you could find proxy goblins to saddle on to that.  There have got to be options.

I was thinking of using axebeaks myself, great minds do think alike.  I was looking at some old Heartbreaker goblins to see if their legs were spread apart enough to quickly mount.

er.........Is it just me or did that statement sound very naughty ::)

I just hit the applaud button.  To the unitiated in what my co-workers call my "dork kingdom", so many modelling references just sound obscene, or psychotic.

I'm betting those Reaper birds are a little too big, but I still think it's worth a go.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  My wife likes to stand behind me when I'm on the forum and whisper "loser" over and over while she chuckles.  Of course I do the same to her while she plays her online computer games(arcade) against others for "Tokens".  Isn't love grand!

My friend Pete's wife Trish plays all the games he plays.  When his jealous friends ask how he got so lucky, he replies, "I trained her."   I know that sounds chauvinistic, but he's not like that at all.

Trish is a fierce competitor whether it's 40K (she plays Orks), Warlord (she plays Elves), and they play Wild West miniatures games, and soon, next time we hang, Pirates!

Love is grand.

@ Masherking--- I was wondering, how much more difficult is it to keep your mounted warbands in command  distance, and still get to use all the actions.  I ask this because I just won a lot on ebay that has a full warband of ripperbeast archers and I would like to use them.

I never found it an issue.
squads are 4 big, leaderless squad and movement is what they do best. :)

damn there was squad e-bay...missed that one.

Thanks for the info.  The ripperbeasts came with a HUGE lot of blackbloods and Devout.  I am now pretty much commited to these 2 armies.  My poor elves and dwarves my not see lamplight for a long time.

I still kick myself for not getting a couple of lots that were on ebay 5-6 months ago.  One was a HUGE Blackblood and the other was a Devout.  At the time I didn't want to spend that much money on one lot, so instead I ended up spending more on a bunch of smaller ones :-[.  Ahh, stupidity................ what a rush! :D

So, I recieved my ripperbeasts the other day.  I was so happy!  Then, to my horror :o, I discover three very lonely ripperbeast archers hiding in the corner of the box.  Poor, sad little things don't have any ripperbeasts to play with!  I felt so sorry for them :(.  They proceeded to tell me how allthe other ripperbeast archers made fun of them and would not let them join in any ripperbeast archer games!  I swore right then and there I would ask around to see if anybody had any ripperbeasts that needed riders.  The prospect of gallantly riding into battle again seemed to cheer them up  (its hard to read goblin facial expressions).  So, if anybody has any information leading to finding rides for these poor, distraught minis please don't hesitate to PM me.
